After entering the 21st century, with the rapid development of the information industry and new energy vehicles, the demand for the lithium-based salts is increasing day by day. Li2CO3with a purity of more than 99.9% is gaining more and more attention as cathode material and electrolyte material for preparing lithium ion batteries. High purity Li2CO3with a purity of more than 99.999% is widely used as electronic material and optical industrial material, and has a strong development momentum.
Hubei University Tianshu Industrial Research and Design Institute of New Energy Materials, and Hubei University actively committed to the research and design of lithium-based salts based on the “Industry-University-Reasearch-Application” development concept, as well as a series of advanced equipment, such as: roasting optimization system, transformation of the crystalline form during calcination, improvement of acid leaching rate and the crystallization process. Efforts to seek new breakthroughs in technology and continuously improve the production of lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide production technology by sulfuric acid. We have made lots of progress in roasting, mixed acid leaching, crystallization and other processes, not only increased lithium salt production capacity, but also reduce production energy consumption and Lithium resources waste. At the same time, the entire production line using real-time on-line monitoring measurement system for all production processes with strict control, to ensure uniform feeding, with less acid, saving manpower and material resources, and avoiding bad product quality, low productivity caused by the human factors.
The in-depth study of lithium carbonate crystallization process, not only has great significance for the preparation of high-quality lithium carbonate products, but also for the development of the entire lithium industry chain. Through the study of crystallization process, our institute can prepare a variety of purity (industrial grade - high purity grade), a variety of particle sizes (average particle size of 200 nm - hundreds of microns), a variety of morphology (spherical, stick-shaped, flaky) of lithium carbonate products, the performance indicators are in line with YST 582-2013 standards.
Next, our institute and Hubei University will conduct in-depth research on lithium salts from the following three aspects:
1) . The research on the mechanism and crystallization kinetics of lithium carbonate at the microcosmic level;
2) The influence of fluid flow on the crystallization process of lithium carbonate;
3) Ultra-fine, high purity Lithium carbonate powder preparation technology, and engineering application.
