Professor Tian Jian Was Invited to Attend the Second China National Conference on the Utilization of Solid Waste from Metallurgical Mineral Resources
The Second China National Conference on the Utilization of Solid Waste from Metallurgical Mineral Resources was held by Southwest University of Science and Technology, The China Key Laboratory of Mineral Processing Science and Technology (Beijing Mining & Metallurgical Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd) and other institutions in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, from December 8th to 10th, 2018. There are four thematic sub-venues in the conference, which were, I.Utilization of solid waste of heavy metals, metallurgical minerals, and pollution prevention, II. Iron and steel metallurgical mineral solid waste recycling, III. Non-metallic mineral solid waste recycling, IV. Three dilute resources comprehensive utilization. Mr. Sun Chuanyao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was the chairman of the conference, and the leaders form relevant universities and scientific research institutes, associations and societies, and renowned experts, scholars and representatives of enterprises in the fields of clean production, the development and utilization of metal mineral resources, and the treatment of tailings, The “three wastes” pollutant treatment and utilization attended the meeting.
Professor Tian Jian, doctoral supervisor of School of Materials Science and Engineering, Hubei University, as well as the dean ofHubei University Tianshu Industrial Research and Design Institute of New Energy Materials, was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the conference to make a report on “The key technology for the safe disposal of metallurgical solid waste to realize low environmental load production”. Professor Tian Jian stressed in particular that we need to attach importance to the environment affects of metallurgical waste, heavy metal pollution, atmospheric pollution and radiation from metallurgical waste from production and waste disposal in the metallurgical industry, such as soil, atmosphere and water, even the direct harm to the human body and other series of problems.
Professor Tian said that in the face of the severe situation of tight resource constraints, serious environmental pollution and degradation of ecosystems, Chinese enterprises in metallurgical industry must speed up the recycling of industrial solid waste resources and their consumption of fossil resources. Farmland land occupation, ecological environment damage and other conditions have to change without delay. The characteristics of the metallurgical industry in China, such as high energy and raw materials consumption , large amount of waste etc, so that metallurgical industry has great potential to develop circular economy. For the utilization of metallurgical industry waste, a large scale and leading technology and equipment are used to stimulate the waste activity, and this kind of cementing material with potential hydration activity can be reused and reused with high added value. It is a feasible way to alleviate resource restriction and protect ecological environment. Related enterprises need to safely dispose of metallurgical solid waste to achieve low environmental load production. On the one hand, it can reduce industrial waste pollution, protect the environment on which human beings depend for survival, and achieve sustainable development. On the other hand, through technical means, the waste can be transformed into a new type of resources beneficial to the development of industry and the survival of human beings.
Professor Tian Jian introduced in detail “Key technology of green ecological comprehensive utilization of industrial solid waste”, the cores of which are “Key technology of green ecological grinding”, “Key technology of making concrete from industrial solid waste powder”. “Key technology of preparing dry pressure no-burning brick from industrial solid waste micro-powder”, and “Key technology of preparing aerated concrete from industrial solid waste micro-powder”, as well as a series of related patents and several demonstration production lines. The above technology can solve the problem of heavy metal pollution and radiation, and reduce the pollution of soil, atmosphere and water body caused by metallurgical waste.

Hubei University Tianshu Industrial Research and Design Institute of New Energy Materials has made a series of major breakthroughs in the fields of comprehensive utilization of industrial solid waste recycling resources, industrial kiln flue gas control and desulfurization as well as denitrification treatment, industrial wastewater treatment, cement building materials, high active calcium oxide / nano-calcium carbonate, highly active magnesium oxide / magnesium hydroxide, highly active metakaolin and bentonite, and the whole industrial chain of lithium batteries.
