The New Process of Comprehensive Utilization of Solid Waste in Iron and Steel Industry Was Favored by Quzhou Dongshen Building Materials Co. Ltd
Steel slag is one of the main wastes in iron and steel enterprises, and its discharge is about 15%~20% of steel output. The total output of crude steel in China was 779 million 40 thousand tons in 2013, the amount of steel slag was 140 million 230 thousand tons, the utilization rate was 36%, and the accumulated pile storage of steel slag amounted to 1 billion tons. The huge pile storage not only encroached on a lot of farmland and land, wasted resources, but also caused the surrounding environment hazards and security risks, resulting in serious pollution of water, air and soil.
As steel slag contains tricalcium silicate, dicalcium silicate, calcium ferrite and other active substances, which has hydraulicity and provides the possibility for the application of steel slag in building materials and cement industry. But on the other hand, it cannot be widely used as slag because of its high volatility of component, poor activity, poor grind ability and poor stability. Therefore, the development of the combined utilization of steel slag and other mineral admixtures has become an urgent task for the iron and steel enterprises and building materials industry.
Therefore, the reduction, resource utilization and high added value of the comprehensive utilization of steel slag, has become a major issue of Hubei University Tianshu IRDI. Through deep study of steel slag surface energy gradient decreasing and other application bases, we have developed a highly efficient segregation of steel particles, iron fines and other valuable metals from steel slag, to obtain steel slag powder. Through the researches on the hydration activity of cycle decreasing common activated steel slag micro powder, we have implemented high energy level, specific surface area and activity of steel slag powder, to make it become a kind of high activity supplementary cementitious material.
To this end, Lv Ronghai, chairman of Zhejiang Quzhou Dongshen Building Materials Co., Ltd and his 4 fellows came to Hubei University Tianshu IRDI on July 3, 2014, to discuss the utilization of steel slag resource of Zhejiang Liyuan Iron and Steel Group, and the construction of an annual output of 600 thousand tons of steel slag powder production line.
