The Second National Symposium on Tailings Project and Comprehensive Utilization Was Successfully Held in Wuhan
The National Symposium on tailings project and comprehensive utilization was jointly held by the China Nonferrous Metals Society and Beijing Mining and Metallurgy Research Institute, and was successfully held in Wuhan from May 26th to 27th. Authoritative experts, scholars and business elite in tailings engineering field were invited to participate. The theme focuss on “Tailings Project and Comprehensive Utilization Technology”. There were exchange of technology and experience, as well as sharing of industrial achievements, in order to improve the level of comprehensive disposal of tailings in China, promote structural adjustment, transformation and upgrading of mine enterprises.
As a guest invited by the conference, Dr. Tian Jian, member of Industrial Solid Waste Specialized Committee, China Green Building Materials Industrial Alliance, Director of Metallurgy Association, Professor of Hubei University, and Dean of Hubei University Tianshu Industrial Research and Design Institute of New Energy Materials (Tianshu IRDI), make a special report of “Key Technology for Efficient Comprehensive Disposal and Utilization of Copper Tailing”.
Prof. Tian Jian pointed out that mining, building materials and other traditional industries are facing severe challenges, urgent need for structural adjustment and transformation and upgrading during the “13th Five-Year”. As the industrial solid waste of mine enterprises, tailings processing is mainly based on extensive disposal, with low added value, waste of resources and serious ecological and environmental hazards. Therefore, it is an important task for the present situation to explore the efficient utilization of tailings and build a recycling green industrial chain in the fields of mines, building materials and so on. “Key Technology for Efficient Comprehensive Disposal and Utilization of Copper Tailing” is a new technology to solve the low rate and level of comprehensive utilization of copper tailings resources, and low added value, it is one of the Major Scientific and Technological Innovation Projects of Hubei Province. It has solved three key technical problems:
1)Valuable and nonferrous metal efficient segregation technology.
2)High surface activity of powder preparation technology.
3)Product ratio and process optimization of copper tailings dry pressed brick, aerated concrete.
The depth of excavation and utilization of potential resource and value property of copper tailings, it not only improves the comprehensive utilization rate and level of copper tailings, but also consummates the building materials industry chain, which can promote transformation and upgrading of mining and building materials industry, promote the supply side structural reform and development of related industries.
After the meeting, Dr. Tian Jian had a lively discussion with experts and delegates, and detailed explained the difficulities and questions of “Key Technology for Efficient Comprehensive Disposal and Utilization of Copper Tailing”. It had received widely recognization and appreciation from the experts. Throughthe exchange and discussion of the meeting, it will better to promote the innovation and development of the mine field of nonferrous metal industry in China, improve the comprehensive utilization level of tailings, so as to further accelerate structural adjustment, transformation and upgrading of mining and building materials industry, and realize the green, recycling, sustainable development.
