Invited by Subei High-tech Magnesia Co., Ltd, Hubei University Tianshu Industrial Research and Design Institute of New Energy Materials carried out a business training on July. 17, 2018.
Subei High-tech Magnesia Co., Ltdwas established in 2007, and located in Subei county, Gansu province, Northwest of China, where the company owned a cryptocrystalline magnesite mine with large volume reserves (conservative estimate: one hunderd million tons). Now the mine is open exploitation, and the mined ore is white color, low silica , low iron and is high-purity grade. The ore is mainly used for producing high purity and high activity magnesia, magnesium hydroxide: two products series and total 5 specifications’ products. The company is the first and special producer of magnesium series of products in China, they had built a whole vertical integrated production system from magnesite ore mining, floatating benefication and suspension calcinations further processing to the final products.
The annual output of high activitylight calcined magnesia is 50 000 tons/year, and the index MgO≥98.5%,SiO2≤ 0.1%, Fe2O3≤ 0.1%, CaO ≤ 1%, Al2O3≤ 0.03%, LOI≤1.8, which can be used in the production of low silica calcium fused magnesia, large crystalline fused magnesia, magnesia aluminum spinel and so on. In addition to its domestic sales, the products are also exported to South Africa, Japan and Europe. It will seize the development opportunity of “The Belt and Road” and expand its foreign markets.

Professor Tian Jian and other experts discussed the design of suspension fluidized bed and hydration system. The activity of lightcalcined magnesium oxideis no more than 16 seconds and the activity of high active magnesium oxide is no more than 12 seconds. At the same time, the two sides also demonstrated in detail the waste water treatment and reuse project (1500m3/d) of the light calcined magnesia raw material floatation production line project. The whole system can realize the efficient utilization of all media. The filtrate can meet the requirement of magnesite floatation reuse water, the coagulated and precipitated calcium and magnesium slag can be used as raw material of building materials, the concentrated liquor can be used as chemical raw material to produce industrial grade sodium chloride. Tthe recovery efficiency of water is not less than 70%, so the cost is saved. The DCS (Distributed Control System) is adopted in the whole production line to realize automatic production. The advanced, reliable and prospective floatation wastewater treatment line is well demonstrated. At present, in addition to recycling industrial solid waste and industrial waste gas treatment, Hubei University Tianshu IRDI has begun to set foot in the field of wastewater treatment, which has truly achieved comprehensive treatment and recycling of the three wastes, so as to purify the living environment and protect ecological balance. We should implement President Xi Jinping’s concept of green ecological development.
At the meeting, Professor Zhang from Hubei University Tianshu IRDI, trained the technicians of Subei High-tech Magnesia Co., Ltd to design and operate the suspended calcination process of calcined magnesium carbonate. Later, Director Liu of Hubei University Tianshu IRDI trained magnesia digestion process design and operation methods.
Professor Tian said that our institute has always adhered to independent innovation, with the help of the unique R&D resources of colleges and universities, we commit to adopting the latest technological routes and manufacturing equipment with the craftsman’s spirit to speed up the transformation and upgrading of enterprises and accelerate development.
The technicians of Subei High-tech Magnesia Co., Ltd conscientiously studied the training of experts from Hubei University Tianshu IRDI, and the relevant technical questions raised by them were answered in detail by Professor Tian Jian and his team members. They said that the design and operation of the suspended calcination process for calcined magnesium carbonate, the design and operation of the magnesia digestion process, and the design concept of the waste water treatment and reuse scheme are novel, in terms of production capacity, energy consumption, environmental protection index and product quality are outstanding. They expected that Subei High-tech Magnesia Co., Ltd and Hubei University Tianshu IRDI would establish long-term and stable R&D cooperation in the magnesia project.
